Bank of Ireland’s sponsored tweet about saving for a house has been controversial
Bank of Ireland’s sponsored tweet, in which they appeared to be encouraging people to move back in with their parents in order to be able to save the deposit for their first home, has caused a great deal of controversy. The tweet has since been deleted.
Have people been overreacting?
Green Party representative Una Power has described the tweet as “abhorrent.”
“The tweet comes within the context of an extreme rental crisis in Ireland. It’s completely blind to the difficulties that are facing young people who are suffering in an extreme rental market.”
